DJ Azonto's management demands $10 million compensation from Vice President Dr Bawumia for using his song without his consent

Management of Disk Jockey, DJ Azonto have accused the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of using his track, ‘Fa No Fom’ during his campaign in Nalerigu without any authorisation.

The Rolls Royce Family in a statement released on social media assert that the action of the Vice-President amounts to a “clear infringement of intellectual property rights”.

DJ Azonto and his management is thus seeking a compensation of $10million from the Vice-President.

“This amount reflects the value of the work and the damages incurred to the artist and management due to its misuse in such a high-profile campaign,” the statement read.

Additionally, they admonished all to respect copyright laws and intellectual property rights.

The Rolls Royce Family further noted that they are willing to collaborate with all persons who would want to use their artiste’s work only if the proper legal channels are used.

They stress that a simple call to the artist’s management could have ensured the legal and respectful use of their work, thereby avoiding any unauthorized usage of intellectual properties.

“We urge Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team to immediately address this issue and take steps to prevent such oversights in the future,” the Rolls Royce Family stated.

“We also request a fair and timely settlement from Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s team to resolve the unauthorized use of DJ Azonto’s song in a manner that protects and respects the intellectual property rights of the country.”
