Bawumia launches local music streaming app, Ghana Music Xperience


The Ghana Music Xperience [GMX] streaming platform has been launched in Accra.

The streaming platform was created by a group of Ghanaians solely for an exclusive collection of Ghanaian music.

The platform which features every genre from highlife to hiplife, afrobeat to traditional rhythms will help push Ghana’s rich musical legacy and contemporary sounds.

Whether you’re discovering up-and-coming musicians or enjoying hit songs, GMX provides a smooth music experience.

By signing up to the platform, you can discover carefully chosen playlists to help you enjoy a unique blend of local content that resonates with the heart of Ghana.

The launch which took place at the De Iconic Events Centre in East Legon, Accra on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, was attended by dignitaries and stakeholders from the entertainment industry, including Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Bessa Simons, the President of MUSIGA; and Mr Akwesi Agyeman, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority were also present at the launch.

Other notable attendees included rapper E.L, Zapp Mallet, Samini, Fred Kyei Mensah, and Kaywa.

Speaking as the special guest of honour, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia indicated,” This is a historic moment for Ghana…to have our own music streaming app..it is my distinct honour and pleasure to formally launch GMX, Ghana’s local music streaming app”.
