Stop dreaming, NPP hasn’t neglected Ashanti Region – Osei-Mensah

Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah has dismissed criticisms suggesting that the government has overlooked the Ashanti Region, labelling such claims as “dreams.”

He insists the region has benefited significantly from development projects under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.

Osei-Mensah outlined various improvements across multiple sectors, emphasizing road infrastructure upgrades as a primary area of focus.

He also highlighted enhancements in education, health facilities, and housing provisions for civil servants, describing these as evidence of the government’s commitment to regional development.

Addressing a forum in Kumasi, the Minister detailed specific projects that are either completed or underway. He highlighted ongoing work on the Agenda 111 hospital initiative, noting that several districts are close to finalizing new healthcare facilities.

This includes the construction of Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, polyclinics, and housing units for health workers in key communities.

In the area of justice infrastructure, Osei-Mensah reported the construction of modern court complexes across districts, with accommodations for judges and magistrates assigned to these locations.

These initiatives, he argued, demonstrate that the Ashanti Region has received significant attention and resources, surpassing developments under previous administrations.

“These accommodations include leisure facilities for the magistrates and judges,” he said, adding “If someone claims the Ashanti Region hasn’t seen any development under this government, that person is either dreaming or hasn’t visited the area.”

Addressing flood prevention, Mr Osei-Mensah stated that the Ashanti Region has not experienced severe flooding in recent years due to measures taken by authorities.

He attributed the decrease in robbery incidents and the stability in the region to strong collaboration between security agencies and the hard work of the regional security council, which he described as “the best in the country.”

The Minister assured residents that the government remains committed to fulfilling its promises by focusing on critical infrastructure projects in the road, health, and education sectors across the Ashanti Region.
