My digital skills plan will include 5,000 Kwadaso youth – Bawumia

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced that his policy to train one million youth in digital skills will include 5,000 young people from the Kwadaso Constituency. This initiative aims to equip youth with skills such as coding, enabling them to work remotely from home. Speaking at a constituency connect event in Kwadaso, Dr. Bawumia described the policy as a transformative approach to job creation, which he believes will be a “game changer” for employment opportunities. “The youth need skills. We’ve introduced technical and vocational training, but they also need digital skills, as the world has shifted to digital. “From right here in Kwadaso, one can work for companies in the US, Canada, and Singapore. Even school dropouts can be trained. “My goal is to have at least one million people trained in digital skills, starting with five thousand youth from Kwadaso Constituency. This way, they can stay here and still work internationally”

Mahama accuses NPP govt of successfully collapsing PBC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for allegedly causing the downfall of Produce Buying Company (PBC), Ghana’s largest indigenous cocoa-buying firm. Mahama highlighted PBC as a stark example of mismanagement, noting that many Ghanaian companies are struggling under similar conditions. He drew attention to the plight of PBC workers, who have reportedly gone unpaid for 8 to 9 months without any clear timeline for salary payments. The former president made these remarks while addressing supporters during a campaign stop in Enchi Aowin, Western North Region. “In eight years, the economy has dwindled. When I was president, PBC bought 30 percent of Ghana’s cocoa. Now they can no longer do so. “The company has collapsed under this government. For eight years, they have not been able to pay the workers as well.”

Indian billionaire acquires Pepsi bottling operations in Ghana for $15.1m

Varun Beverages, an Indian multinational led by billionaire Ravi Jaipuria, has agreed to acquire PepsiCo’s bottling operations in Ghana for $15.1 million. In a statement, the company said the deal forms part of a broader $169.6 million purchase covering operations in both Ghana and Tanzania and marks an expansion of Varun Beverages’ footprint in Africa. The acquisition of SBC Beverages Ghana Limited (SBCG), which was finalised subject to regulatory approvals, will see Varun Beverages take full control of Pepsi’s bottling and distribution network in Ghana. SBCG manufactures and sells the PepsiCo franchised brands: Pepsi, Pepsi Max, 7UP, 7UP FREE, Mirinda, Mountain Dew and Evervess. SBCG also manufactures and sells energy drinks under its own brand Cheetah. The company has one manufacturing facility located in Accra with two manufacturing lines. Thief arrested for stealing police man’s phone inside patrol van

A 23-year-old armed robbery suspect, Godwin Emmanuel, has admitted to stealing a police officer’s phone from a patrol van while being transported to the Osun State Police Command. Emmanuel was arrested along with two others, 28-year-old Olajide Kareem and 33-year-old Mike Emmanuel, who is accused of robbing residents and sekzually assaulting a 65-year-old woman on the Ilesa-Osu Expressway in Osun State while taking her husband to the hospital. Parading the suspects on Friday, the Spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola explained that “the three suspects rob motorists and passengers of their belongings.
